Being a Parisian, I am smiling to the comments about this place being boring. The history behind this Place is interesting...as well as the buildings around and the monuments.. What do the fountains symbolize? Why is it an obelisk that has been chosen ? I am so interested in the is place that I am proposing a guided tour of it ! http://concorde.voila.net Yes, definitely a place to visit !!! probably one of the best views of Paris !!!

After reading this, I can see why people keep leaving comments. I hope this isn't rejected, cause i would really like to read more. Can you post some more good literature?

Indeed there are tourists who seems to be a bit disappointed of this spot, but a lot of people told us that its worth it! You cannot say this in general...

The Place de la Concorde is indeed not really a place to visit. Just have a stop there on your way from the Tuileries gardens to the Champs Elysées. It is nice, though, in Summer and in the evening when the fountains are working.
Another opportunity is to cross the Place and head to the Seine. You can start a walk on the banks of the river to the Alexander 3 bridge that is worth a look.

I can tell you this place is boring and it is so huge. My feet were killing me as I walked through with my wife. And it was cold and windy and ugly. The only thing we had in mind was where we can go inside to relax a bit.
